Thomas Dailey, Chairman emeritusMr. Dailey is General Counsel of Verizon Online Services, which was formed by the merger of Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions and GTE.net LLC. Verizon Online provides DSL, dedicated and dial-up Internet access services, and a variety of IP-based integrated messaging and web hosting services to the consumer and small business markets. Verizon Online is one of the largest fee-based Internet access service providers in the United States. Mr. Dailey is the chief legal officer for Verizon's retail Internet business and is responsible for all legal matters affecting Verizon Online, including issues involving business development, network security, privacy, copyright compliance, contracts management, and litigation. He also is responsible for all legislative, regulatory and external affairs matters, including the review and development of state and federal legislation. Prior to joining the Verizon Online, Mr. Dailey was General Counsel to Bell Atlantic's operating telephone company in Vermont, where he was responsible for providing legal and regulatory advice on federal and state telecommunications matters. Before joining Bell Atlantic, Mr. Dailey was an Associate with the Boston law firm of Goodwin Procter and Hoar, where he specialized in commercial litigation, and employment and labor law. Mr. Dailey is a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars and other programs on Internet law and policy issues, and is the co-author of an article published in 2000 in the George Mason Law Review entitled, Non-Regulation Of Advanced Internet Services. |
